MBC has a fleet of privately owned boats that regularly use the Manukau harbour. Many boats often going out over the often unpredictable Manukau bar in search of trophy sized game fish and sport and family fare which inhabit Auckland’s west back door step. One of the clubs goals is to gather and distribute local knowledge, increase safety awareness of the area, to give fisher-folk an opportunity to share ideas and techniques and last but not least to provide an arena for friendly competition and camaraderie. The MBC has club rooms and boat launching facilities along Kiwi Esplanade in Mangere. The club has a weigh-station gantry at the club rooms which on very regular occasions during the summer game fish season become a focal point after a days fishing. A number of record fish have passed across the clubs scales. The club rooms are open daily for members to gather, have a refreshment or two and discuss fishing antics and generally socialize. We currently have 200 members, mostly being family memberships which puts the clubs actual membership in excess of 400. The club has regular weekend activities and competitions. We actively support our junior members and encourage family activity.
MBC also hosts the annual “Manukau One Base” game fish tournament based out of the MBC club rooms and boat ramp.

December...
Not a nice month by all accounts, what with wind and rain and more wind and rain! However there were some weigh in's this month, and the results you can see HERE .Other than that, the Kids and Adults christmas parties went off ok by all accounts. As I have been away I unfortnately missed out on all the events, and so I cant report on whats been going on around the club. I should be back again in February, so for all of you that I havn't run into over the festive season, I wish you all a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year...
And this just in.... If you are thinking of fishing the Waitamata in the vicinity of NORTH SHORE and RANGITOTO read THIS
November...
The first of the spring season club events was kicked off-on the First of November, with members gathering at the club house for the annual Melbourne_Cup race meeting.
Prior to the race of course, the ladies paraded next to the "holding paddock" for the hat judging. Some of the creations were, ummm creative... The afternoon progressed into quite a lively event, with the kitchen being used to provide a fine light meal for all.
Fishing over the bar has been producing some fine catches, while the inner harbour has been showing some promise too, with Lynette getting a good haul of snapper recently. Unfortunately, the weather is still not too settled. Its to be hoped that as spring progresses into summer this will settle down a bit.
The first attempt at running the Snapper Comp was blown away by the weather, and this weekend sees the "Rain date " post ponement approaching.. I am writing this on the eve of departing overseas, but having looked at the weather forecast, it looks as though the comp is going to end up a a raffle for the prizes. There is talk around, about re-running the comp after christmas, for the trophy only.. Will update that as I hear more.... I just hope it happens WHEN I AM BACK !!
I will be updating the website while I am away, relying on pictures and emails from members of the committee.. As I wont be back untill after New Year, may I wish all a very safe, happy and prosperous Xmas and New year.
I understand Trev has been nominated for the entertainment committee this coming year???
Please click the "Calendar" button at the top of the page for a list of up-coming events
Scollop season ... well, where are they? With the price of fuel, members seem to find that purchasing these from the supermarket is cheaper. The season closes soon !
Daylight Saving..The weather seems to be conspiring against us using this so far this year. Here's hoping it settles down so we can get out in the evenings for a fish.
And dont forget to weigh your catch in - there's prizes issued every month for the heaviest in most species, and also the average weight. Be in to win.
